The Hammond Area Career Center is one of 13 schools statewide to be recognized with an Indiana Educational Excellence award. The Hammond Area Career Center and Elkhart High School each received a $500,000 'Crossing the Finish Line' grant last week from the Indiana Department of Education. The state recognized each school for prioritizing the completion of high-value postsecondary credentials for graduating seniors by providing free tuition, fees, books and other expenses. Hammond completed the initiative with Vincennes University, while Elkhart worked with Ivy Tech Community College.
