ELKHART — The Elkhart County Toys for Tots campaign for the 2023 holiday season is officially underway. During a launch ceremony Monday, members of the organization's volunteer and planning committee gathered at Grand Design RV in Elkhart to announce plans for the annual collection of toys for local children of families in need. Led by Ed Hiar, in his first year as campaign coordinator, the crowd learned about volunteer opportunities and other particulars of the program. Toys for Tots is a local collaboration with the Marine Corps Reserve and a network of charitable agencies and groups, with the common goal of providing Christmas gifts to area children.
